![]() ![]() ![]() You just kill hundreds of enemies over and over, it got so tedious that it made me quit the game eventually. The main quest devolves into the most unimaginative quest design I think I have ever seen in a PB game, it's honestly shocking that it made it into the final version of the game. Their quests are also awful and follow the exact same structure like 6 or 7 times: Companion runs up and talks to you, you get teleported to a random location on the map, you kill a bunch of enemies (or steal some documents) and that's it. This is obviously subjective, but I found every companion (except for maybe Crony) to be completely unlikable and/or boring. This type of quest design is just not interesting to me, it was much better with the cold system in Elex 1 imo. The morality system makes every quest have the same 3 outcomes: Option A is the good guy route, Option B is neutral, Option C is the psychopath route. The sound design is also still just as awful as it was in Elex 1 where it sounds like you're hitting a piece of solid metal when attacking animals and humans. Elex 1 also had different animations based on the weapon type, but in Elex 2 all animations are the same. While the combat system itself is fine (light attack, heavy attack, running attack, block, dodge, parry etc.), it still feels bad to play because the animations make Jax look like a total amateur who is wildly swinging his weapon around without any finesse, even if you invest all your points into melee combat. The world design is a huge step back from Elex 1, because it is lacking in variety and points of interests. Apart from that, everything has been done much better in other PB games imo. The only real positives I can think of in Elex 2 are the jetpack and the little conversations between NPCs that react to how you've solved certain quests. ![]() It is currently my least favorite Piranha Bytes game unfortunately and it's the only one I stopped playing before reaching the ending, because it was just too annoying (I still played it for 60 hours though).įor context, my ranking of PB games is like this: ![]()
